Special Tribute On Women’s Day: PVR To Showcase Sridevi’s Films All Day Long

No sooner the news of Sridevi’s untimely death broke out, celebs from the B-Town and fans of the actress started paying tributes to her. Now multiplex chain, PVR has taken an initiative on Women’s Day and will be showcasing her popular films like Chandni (1989), Chaalbaaz (1989), Lamhe (1991), English Vinglish (2012) and Mom (2017) throughout the day across their branches.

Acknowledging the same, Boney Kapoor told a leading daily, "I am honoured that someone has taken this initiative. It feels good to know that some of Sridevi's best works is going to be celebrated. I can't think of a better way to honour her. It will be a treat for her fans to revisit her films."

Gautam Dutta, CEO, PVR Ltd believes that there can be no better way to celebrate womanhood than by honouring industry’s first female superstar. "The festival is an extension of our special weekly property dedicated to women. We wish to contribute towards women empowerment,” he told the daily.

Sridevi passed away on February 24, in Dubai. Her last rites were conducted on February 28 in Mumbai where B-Town celebs like Aishwarya Rai, Jaya Bachchan, Tabu, Jaya Prada, Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen and many other paid tribute to the late actress. Post her demise, Boney Kapoor had put out a heartfelt post on social media where he wrote, “Losing a friend, wife and mother of your two young daughters is a loss inexplicable in words. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers and all of you countless fans of my Sridevi who have stood by us like rocks. I am blessed to have the support and love of Arjun and Anshula, who have been such pillars of strength for myself, Khushi and Janhvi. Together, as a family we have tried to face this unbearable loss.”

Janhvi also wrote a letter remembering her mother and on her 21st birthday (March 6), continued the ritual of visiting an old age home.

Coming back to multiplex chain’s initiative, we’re sure all Sridevi’s fans will jump to see their diva on the big screen one more time.
